Two Iconic Clubs Celebrate Milestones: CRTC Marks 125 Years and Indoor Club Celebrates 50

The Interclubes community celebrates two important milestones this year: the 125th anniversary of the Costa Rica Tennis Club (CRTC) and the 50th anniversary of the San José Indoor Club, two institutions that have played a significant role in the country’s social and sporting life.

Founded in 1901, the Costa Rica Tennis Club traces its origins to the historic San José Golf Club, whose founding board presented its incorporation act to the Municipality of San José on March 5 of that year, marking the beginning of what would become one of the country’s most recognized clubs.

Throughout its history, the club has been the setting for important moments in Costa Rica’s social and sports culture. From its early facilities in La Sabana, where sports such as golf, cricket, and bowls were practiced, to its evolution into a prominent tennis club, the CRTC has grown alongside the development of the city and the nation’s sporting traditions.

Meanwhile, the San José Indoor Club celebrates five decades of history, establishing itself as a space for sports, community, and connection among generations of members and families. Over the past 50 years, the club has fostered athletic participation, social interaction, and a strong sense of community among its members.

Together, both institutions reflect the spirit of the clubs that make up the Interclubes Association—places where sport, friendship, and tradition come together to build community.

The anniversaries of the Costa Rica Tennis Club and the San José Indoor Club celebrate not only years of history but also the legacy of generations who have helped shape these institutions. Their stories continue to inspire the Interclubes community to promote sport, connection, and a shared sense of belonging among clubs across the country.
