About Us
Interclubs, founded to represent and strengthen clubs through social and sports union.
Our Story
The Interclub Association was founded in 1976, with the purpose of uniting the Associated Clubs, representing and defending them against actions that may harm them; stimulating the union of its members through social and sports activities.
Its legal constitution took place on November 3, 1982, with the participation of 10 associated clubs, with the requirements established by Law No. 218 of Associations and its Reforms. Likewise, the Board of Directors is formed by a representative of each Club (generally the president, a former president, or an outstanding director) who, with their contributions and experiences, make important decisions that strengthen the union of the Social and Sports Clubs in Costa Rica.
Throughout its history, it has carried out events of projection to the culture and social help to the communities where its associated Clubs are located. It promotes courses, workshops, seminars, and other types of educational and training activities for the proper administration and professional provision of the services required by the Clubs. Social events have been a means of uniting the Interclub family, since by sharing different activities with members of other Clubs in particular or with the entire Interclub community, an important social relationship among its members is generated.
The organization of championships in different sports disciplines began in the 1970s. Since then, Interclub Championships of Basket Ball, Soccer, Athletics, Tennis, Swimming, and others have been organized. These activities always count with the participation of a good number of members and have been important in the sports exchange.
The Interclub Song Festival has been held for three consecutive years and has been a success. This activity has achieved the union between the members of the different member clubs and their families, which has generated a socialization among the attendees that has become a tradition among the clubs to share a very pleasant evening.
Since its inception, the presidents on duty and some of its directors have visited the Boards of Directors of the Clubs to report on the work of the organization. At present, there are thirteen member clubs participating.
An administrative office is maintained to link all clubs and provide information as needed; coordinate the events that take place, circulate among the clubs the different activities that each club programs individually, so that the members of the other clubs can participate.
During the past year, a system of training courses and talks for club officers was implemented in conjunction with the INA. In addition, Interclubs worked hard on the analysis and final proposal to the Tax Administration regarding VAT on maintenance fees, for which Interclubs was able to ensure that they would not be subject to this tax, which is an excellent achievement for the benefit of all clubs.
