This is how we experienced the closing ceremony and trophy presentation — a tournament that marks the beginning of a new chapter for senior players.

During the second semester of 2025, a historic tournament was held for senior players aged 62 and over—an event that stood out not only for its competitive level, but also for the strong spirit of camaraderie that defined each match day.

The initiative was inspired by a successful internal tournament held mid-year at Club Campestre Español, where players from Costa Rica Tennis Club, Castillo Country Club, and the host club participated—an experience that motivated the organization to take the project to the next level.

The Birth of the Interclubes Senior League

Following that momentum, the President of the Interclubes Association, Dr. Bernal García, proposed the creation of a league for players aged 60 and over. With this vision, Álvaro Romero (Club Campestre Español) and Gerardo Lizano (Costa Rica Tennis Club) took on the task of organizing the first official tournament of this new league.

Participating Clubs and Tournament Format

The tournament included the participation of three clubs:

  • Castillo Country Club

  • Club Campestre Español

  • Costa Rica Tennis Club

The competition followed a double-round format, using the facilities of both Club Campestre Español and Costa Rica Tennis Club. Each match day featured five pairs per club, for a total of 36 registered players. The tournament was carried out successfully in an atmosphere of cordiality, respect, and friendship, reinforced by social gatherings held at the end of each date.

Looking Ahead to 2026

For the coming year, the President of the Interclubes Association has requested the inclusion of additional clubs in the Senior League and reaffirmed the institutional support available to ensure the successful organization of future tournaments.A 2026 Organizing Committee will also need to be established to coordinate activities, schedule events, and approve the regulations that will govern the league.
