With the goal of developing coaches with solid human and professional qualities, the Costa Rica Tennis Club, in conjunction with the Interclub Association, promoted the Comprehensive Workshop on Sports Development, taught by Teresita Anchía, MSc., Director of Human Talent for the National Olympic Committee. With extensive experience in sports psychology and talent management, Anchía shared her expertise with coaches, directors, and sports managers from several affiliated clubs.

The workshop's focus was clear from the start: to prepare participants to act as agents of change in their environments, promoting conscious, ethical support focused on the athlete's overall well-being. Key topics covered included the formative role of the coach, the importance of parental support, and the variables that directly influence athletic performance, including physical, psychological, and social support factors.

This workshop was held in three sessions at different venues: Costa Rica Tennis Club, Santa Ana Country Club, and Costa Rica Country Club, during October and November. The diverse locations allowed for the integration of different profiles and sporting experiences, enriching the exchange among attendees.

Among the key concepts covered, the need for coaches to be role models, not only technically but also personally, was highlighted. The focus was on sport as a development tool beyond competitive results, and the value of respect, emotional control, teamwork, and setting realistic goals were discussed as pillars for the comprehensive development of athletes.

Participation was active, with representatives from different disciplines and roles, allowing for a valuable interdisciplinary dialogue. The dynamic included practical activities, spaces for reflection, and even a motivational video that concluded with the message that each person is the sculptor of their own life.

In its conclusions, the workshop outlined three clear directions for the future: expanding its scope with new content such as physical therapy, nutrition, and sports medicine; delving deeper into specialized tools to strengthen the comprehensive approach; and establishing partnerships with like-minded organizations to multiply its impact.

The Comprehensive Workshop on Sports Development was not just a training program, but an invitation to rethink the role of sports in people's lives and the responsibility that comes with guiding those who practice it. It was a transformative experience that paves the way for more conscious and humane training in the sports spaces of affiliated clubs.
